According to the Guinness Book of World Records, on 29 October, 2007, the World's Most Expensive Haircut was 8,000 British Pounds ($16,300 US Dollars (USD)). This most expensive haircut in the world was done by London, England's Stuart Phillips who is known for being the official hair stylist of the British Academy Television Awards since 2004. The recipient of the $16,300 USD haircut is an Italian woman named Beverley Lateo who said that the hairdo was worth the expensive fee, as it was what she wanted — "a perfect haircut."

To be clear, the haircut price included first class airfare from Italy to England plus limousine service, a champagne lunch and basically anything within reason that Ms. Lateo wanted. It was reported that Ms. Lateo only asked for a cream tea. She had the services of Mr. Phillips himself for the entire day even though the most expensive haircut in the world itself reportedly took only about an hour. Ms. Lateo is a retired property developer who has millions of dollars.

Apparently, Ms. Lateo had tried many different salons throughout Italy and was unsatisfied with all of the haircuts she had had. Ms. Lateo paid the $16,300 USD price of the most expensive haircut in the world, not once, but three times. She felt the salons in Italy ruined her hair and thought that Stuart Phillips did a perfect job, and the price was worth the results. She said she liked the idea that she would be catered to and was so pleased with the haircut and client treatment that she is happy to be a regular client of Mr. Phillips.

The most expensive haircut in the world at the Stuart Phillips Hair Salon in London included a trim, personalized L'Oreal hair products and a blow dry along with the food, airfare and red carpet client treatment. The Stuart Phillips Hair Salon is located in the Covent Garden section of London. Covent Garden is an Italian-style entertainment area popular with tourists. Stuart Phillips has done hair styling for many celebrities such as Ivana Trump and Jean-Claude Van Damme. His usual fee for a regular haircut sans airfare and working with the client for the entire day, is about 150 British Pounds ($300 USD).

Moldova-I know that I rather have expensive sunglasses that I can use all of the time, than an expensive haircut.

The only time I could justify an expensive haircut would be if I had long hair. Long hair requires more skill because the hair is a more prominent feature of the face.

In other words, a mistake on the haircut is more visible with long hair than with short hair. I think the most I ever paid for a haircut was $100 when I had long hair.

It was a salon in South Beach and the stylist was excellent. He made me look incredible, but I could not pay that every six weeks. One tip that the stylist told me was to wash my hair only a few times a week.

He said that the other days I could rinse my hair and simply add conditioner in order to keep my hair soft and healthy.

I know that many celebrity haircuts are really expensive. I remember the former presidential candidate, John Edwards was given a lot of slack because he paid $400 for a men’s haircut.

It was viewed as outrageous because he always gave political speeches that led to class warfare and how there are two Americas and how we have to help the poor.

Men’s haircuts generally don’t cost that much because men traditionally have short hair and there is not much to cut.

The most expensive haircuts are probably found in the most expensive cities in the world. New York, London and Paris probably have the most stylish salons that offer the trendiest haircuts and men’s hair styles.
